The Houston Passport Agency, operated by the United States Department of State, is located in the George Thomas "Mickey" Leland Federal Building on 1919 Smith Street, 4th Floor, Houston, TX 77002. Passport services are available by appointment only and the offices are open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, closed on federal holidays. Passport services can be expedited within 8 days to as quickly as the same day for applicants with urgent travel needs. The Houston Passport Agency - Expedited Passport Service expedites passports for U.S. citizens who require expedited passport services within 8 days to as quickly as the same day for applicants with urgent travel needs. Individuals who are not in a rush can apply for a new passport at application acceptance facilities in Houston.^[3]

In addition to the two passport agencies, two passport acceptance facilities in Houston are operated by the Municipal Courts. These facilities are located at the Herbert W. Gee Municipal Courthouse and the Westside Command Station. Appointments are 30 minutes long and can be made 14 days in advance.^[2]
