Accessibility Statement

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA across passportoffices.com, publish our known limitations openly, and will provide any page's information in an alternative format on request.

Last updated: August 30, 2026

1. Our commitment

PassportOffices — a joint project made with love out of Wyoming — is committed to making passport information usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, speech input, or captions. Accessibility is treated as a requirement of every feature we ship, not an afterthought.

2. Conformance standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, and we design with Section 508 principles in mind. We describe our status as “partially conformant”: most of the site meets the standard, and we actively fix the areas that do not.

3. What we do

  • semantic HTML with a single main landmark and a logical heading order on every page;
  • full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators and no keyboard traps;
  • accessible names on every icon-only button, link, and form control;
  • color contrast that meets AA, and never color alone to convey meaning;
  • accessible dialogs, menus, and accordions built on tested ARIA primitives;
  • tap targets sized for touch and layouts that reflow to 320px without loss of content;
  • text alternatives for images and text equivalents for charts, including our busy-times estimates;
  • English and Spanish content with a correct page language declaration.

4. Known limitations

We are aware of these areas and are working on them:

  • Interactive maps — map pins are difficult to operate with assistive technology. Every map is paired with an equivalent text list of the same offices, sorted by distance, which is fully keyboard and screen-reader accessible.
  • Third-party and government content — pages we link to are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
  • Imported directory data — official source records occasionally contain abbreviations or formatting that screen readers pronounce awkwardly. We normalize these as we find them.

5. Getting the information another way

If any part of this site is a barrier, we will provide the information you need in another format — plain text, large print, or over email — at no cost. Email accessibility@passportoffices.com with the page and what you need.

6. Feedback and response times

Tell us about any accessibility problem at accessibility@passportoffices.com. Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you use.

We acknowledge reports within 2 business days and aim to resolve confirmed barriers within 15 business days, or provide a timeline and an accessible alternative in the meantime.

7. How we assess the site

We combine automated testing during development with manual keyboard-only passes, screen reader spot checks (VoiceOver and NVDA), contrast audits, and mobile reflow testing at 320–768px. New pages are reviewed before release, and the full site is re-reviewed periodically.
