Short answer
Is the travel plans question on Form DS-11 required?
No, the travel plans section on Form DS-11 isn't required for a routine application, and leaving it blank won't get you rejected. If you have a trip booked, fill it in. It helps the State Department prioritize expedited or urgent requests.

Key takeaways
- Optional for routine service.
- Recommended when you have a departure date.
- Urgent agency appointments need separate proof of travel.
Full answer
Writing a date does not speed up a routine application by itself. Pay for expedited service if your timeline is tight.
