Do you need a passport to travel to Rhode Island?

All destinations

U.S. citizens traveling to Rhode Island on a route entirely within the United States do not need a passport. For domestic flights, adults 18 and older need identification accepted by TSA. A REAL ID-compliant license, passport book or passport card are among the options.

Flying to Rhode Island

REAL ID enforcement began May 7, 2025. A noncompliant state license is not enough on its own; use another TSA-accepted ID. Domestic-flight ID rules are federal, not a separate passport requirement imposed by Rhode Island.
