Getting a passport photo at Rite Aid

Pharmacy photo counters in select regions take and print passport photos on the spot. The typical price is $14.99 – $16.99, and while you wait No membership needed.

Rite Aid photo counters print the standard 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) format required for U.S. passport books, passport cards, and most visa applications. Before you go, confirm your nearest store's counter hours with the official Rite Aid store locator — photo service hours are often shorter than store hours, and availability varies by location. If the photo is for a passport application the same day, remember the photo fee is paid to Rite Aid while the government's application and execution fees are paid separately at the acceptance facility.

Compliant photos must be taken within the last six months, against a plain white or off-white background, with a neutral expression, no glasses, and no head covering unless worn daily for religious or medical reasons. If a Rite Aid retake is not convenient, our free browser tool below can produce the same compliant image from a phone photo in about five minutes.

  • Store footprint has shrunk — check the locator for an open location near you.
  • Photo service is not offered at every remaining store.
  • Self-service kiosks can print a 4x6 in sheet from a phone.

What to bring

  • A photo ID if you are also applying the same day.
  • Everyday clothing — no uniforms, and remove glasses before the photo.
  • A form of payment; most counters cannot bill an application fee together with the photo.
