What Each Status Means

This status may mean:

  • Your application hasn't reached a passport agency yet (can take up to 2 weeks)
  • Try entering your name differently if it contains hyphens or apostrophes
  • The system might be undergoing maintenance

Your application is being reviewed at one of our agencies or centers.

Processing time depends on the service you selected:

  • Routine: 10-12 weeks
  • Expedited: 4-6 weeks

We have finished reviewing your application and will begin printing your completed passport.

Your passport is on its way to the address you provided.

Important: Save your tracking number when it appears in the online status system. Future updates won't include this number.

If it's been over two weeks since the "Mailed" status:

  1. Call 1-877-487-2778
  2. Complete Form DS-86 (Statement of Non-Receipt)
  3. Must file within 90 days of issuance date
