Eligible U.S. citizens who want routine service can now renew their passports online.
If you do not qualify to renew online, you may need to renew by mail.
How to Renew Your Passport Online
Follow these steps to renew your passport online and track your status:
- Your most recent passport is valid or expired less than 5 years
- You are age 25 or older
- Your most recent passport was issued within the last 15 years
- Your most recent passport has not been lost, stolen, or damaged
- You are not changing your name, gender, date of birth, or place of birth
Set up your account to begin the online renewal process:
- Visit the MyTravelGov website
- Create a new account or sign in
- Verify your email address
- Upload your most recent passport photo
- Enter your most recent passport information
- Enter your travel plans (if applicable)
- Review and submit your application
Pay securely with these payment methods:
- Credit/Debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)
- ACH (Direct debit from your bank account)
- Digital wallet payments
