Apply for a Child Passport
For children under 16, both parents/guardians must be present when applying for the passport. Special documentation is required if one parent cannot be present.
Child passport requirements:
- Child must be under 16 years old
- Both parents/guardians must be present
- Must apply in person at a passport facility
- Parents must provide valid identification
Child's Documents:
- Original birth certificate
- Previous U.S. passport (if any)
- Citizenship evidence
- Recent passport photo
Parent/Guardian Documents:
- Valid government-issued ID
- Proof of relationship
- Consent documentation
- Legal evidence of authority
Child's passport photo must meet these requirements:
- 2x2 inches in size
- Taken within the last 6 months
- White or off-white background
- Child must be looking at camera
- Eyes must be open and visible
