You cannot renew a passport for a child under age 16. You must apply again in person.
Child PassportsRenewal Requirements
You can renew your passport by mail if ALL of the following are true:
- You have your passport with you to submit
- Your passport is undamaged (other than normal wear and tear)
- Your passport was issued when you were 16 or older
- Your passport was issued within the last 15 years
- Your passport was issued in your current name or you can document your name change
How to Renew
Complete Form DS-82 online or fill it out by hand. Do not sign the form until instructed to do so.
Start Form DS-82- Your most recent passport
- A passport photo taken within the past 6 months
- Payment for the application fee
- Documents for name change (if applicable)
